Country Thunder Alberta will no longer take place after organizers announced the festival’s cancellation just two days before it was scheduled to begin. The event had been planned for June 26 through June 28 at The Confluence in Calgary.
Organizers said the decision followed ongoing discussions with the City of Calgary about conditions affecting the festival site. They pointed to infrastructure and operational challenges that they said could not be resolved in time. Those issues included nearby construction, the loss of a key access route, a temporary water line bypass, and reduced sound limits.
The festival lineup included Kane Brown, Lainey Wilson, Tyler Hubbard, Ian Munsick, and The Red Clay Strays. Fans who purchased tickets will receive full refunds.
In a statement, organizers described the cancellation as disappointing and said they had worked to find a solution before deciding the event could not move forward. The announcement came just before thousands of fans were expected to travel to the festival, bringing an unexpected end to this year’s planned weekend of live country music.
