Taylor Swift made an unexpected appearance on Saturday Night Live during host Dakota Johnson’s opening monologue, joining the actress for a lighthearted exchange about their friendship.

During the sketch, Johnson joked about her dating history and described Swift as her literal therapist. The surprise appearance turned that line into a running gag, with Swift explaining that Johnson often visits her home to talk through personal matters. The two played the moment for laughs, making clear the therapy reference was part of the comedy.

Swift’s cameo also included a brief Cleveland reference that nodded to her connection with Travis Kelce. Later in the show, she returned during the closing moments with a birthday cake for Johnson, who was preparing to celebrate her 37th birthday.

The appearance followed another recent collaboration between the two stars, with Johnson appearing in Swift’s Patient Zero music video. Swift was not the episode’s musical guest. Rock band Turnstile handled the scheduled performances.

Swift has appeared on Saturday Night Live several times over the years as a performer, host, and surprise guest.
