Two people were killed in a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip near the Bellagio Hotel on Sunday night. Police responded to reports of gunshots and found the victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has been identified but not yet arrested. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an online argument between the suspect and victims. (UPI)


President Trump unveiled plans for the U.S. government and companies to invest in savings accounts for employees’ children as part of a $1.45 trillion spending bill. The “Invest America” program would seed $1,000 Treasury accounts for U.S. citizens born 2025-2028, with companies and others able to contribute up to $5,000 annually. (UPI)


California has sued the Trump administration after the state’s National Guard was deployed to confront protesters in Los Angeles without the governor’s consent. Attorney General Rob Bonta argued the federalization of the National Guard deprives the state of resources. Governor Gavin Newsom accused Trump of “escalating the situation” (CBS News)


HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the removal of all 17 members of the CDC’s vaccine advisory committee, the ACIP, and their replacement with new members. Kennedy said this is necessary to “restore public trust” and ensure the committee prioritizes public health. The Biden administration had appointed the current members. (ABC News)


Hurricane Barbara has become the first hurricane of the eastern Pacific season, churning about 150 miles off the western coast of Mexico. As of Monday, Barbara’s center was around 155 miles southwest of Manzanillo. The storm is expected to continue moving northwest, with life-threatening surf and rip conditions likely affecting the Mexican coast. (NBC News)
